I started singing lessons with Elise around 2018 and 2019, and we clicked immediately. I always looked forward to my lessons with Elise. Her vocal exercises and warm-ups provided a release at the end of the busy working day.

We built a powerful rapport, and she maintains a wealth of knowledge about vocals. Elise is highly encouraging and supportive; she gave me confidence and real-life experience of singing in front of an audience.

Elise gets to know her students individually and creates lesson plans that target their individual interests, goals, and learning styles. My goal was to learn how to sing, which I achieved through a “doing” attitude, fun vocal exercises, and having Elise believe in me, which helped me believe in myself.

I have been attending singing lessons with Elise for 6 years now and cannot thank Elise enough for her patience and guidance throughout these lessons. They are always a lot of fun and something I look forward to each week.

His recitations are so engaging as he immerses himself in the various characters. He paces himself very well, adds emphasis and pauses appropriately, and feels comfortable taking a drink of water when needed. Each of his talks has been exceptionally well received.

I had a great youth camp in many ways, but the singing component was the standout. I led every song over the week, including the final solo call-and-response song that led the participant group of 80 men back into the community hall in front of a few hundred people.

I received many positive, spontaneous comments about my singing. It was a truly uplifting experience and put to rest any lingering fears I had about singing in front of others. You are a massive part of that process for me, and I wouldn’t have got there without you.

Deciding to learn to sing as an adult is daunting at first. It feels vulnerable in a way that learning other instruments doesn’t. I think teaching this needs more than someone who understands music; it needs a warmth of character, someone who makes you wonder why you were afraid to do it in the first place.

I remember the dread I felt when Elise asked me to sing a song in our first lesson. An admittedly strange emotion to feel in a professional singing lesson. I had no idea what notes I was singing, or even what notes I was supposed to sing. Every note a wild stab in the dark.

But Elise is patient. As every lesson finished, I sang a song, and every song I sang was slightly more in tune. Eventually we progressed to the point where even I could tell when I sang the wrong note.

Now when I sing, I sing (mostly) in tune. I sing to my friends, my family, and even a crowd occasionally, but mostly I sing for myself. For the satisfaction of doing something I love, something I always wanted to do. And I know that without Elise’s knowledge, patience, and above all warmth, I wouldn’t be singing at all.

Your rich lower register reminds me of how strikingly Sarah Vaughan could use hers to such stunning effect.
